Tunisia has adopted several ambitious policies to promote energy efficiency and encourage the integration of renewable energies in the industrial sector. These strategic initiatives aim to modernize industrial processes, reduce energy consumption, and significantly improve energy efficiency throughout this key sector.

The industrial sector, which accounts for about 24% of the country's final energy demand, is one of the largest energy consumers in Tunisia. The most energy-intensive industries include cement, chemicals, metallurgy, and agri-food. To meet their energy needs, these industries mainly rely on three sources: natural gas (38%), petroleum products (37.3%), and electricity (24%).

This high energy consumption raises major challenges in terms of energy efficiency and energy transition. These challenges are even more pressing as the industrial sector must deal with increasing economic constraints and global environmental imperatives. In this context, Tunisia's commitments under its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) play a key role.

This commitment reflects a clear intention for a profound transformation of industrial practices, with a focus on energy efficiency and the integration of renewable energies as fundamental pillars of national priorities.

To achieve these goals, it is essential to accelerate the adoption of clean technologies and modernize energy infrastructures. By leveraging these drivers, the Tunisian industrial sector can not only contribute significantly to reducing greenhouse gas emissions but also strengthen its competitiveness in international markets.
