Following the success of the solar heating promotion program in the residential and service sectors, the PROSOL INDUSTRIE solar heating promotion program in the industrial sector was launched in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of the Environment, the Mediterranean Center for Renewable Energies and the United Nations Environment Program, since 2010.

This program aims to promote the use of solar thermal technologies in the industrial sector and to install 150,000 square meters of solar collectors in Tunisia by 2030.

Since the use of solar thermal technologies in industrial methods requires in-depth studies, several measures have been taken to overcome technical and organizational obstacles. The National Agency for Energy Conservation has prepared technical studies on the use of solar thermal energy in the industrial sector and a study on incentive mechanisms to boost investments in this field.

In 2018, the pilot plant at the Olmypias (BENETTON) industrial establishment in Monastir was completed. This project aims to cover part of the factory’s water heating needs by installing a solar station with a total area estimated at 1000 m² of flat solar collectors (low temperature).
