In support of the energy transition and promotion of the circular economy, work on the first prototype unit for converting organic waste into bioenergy has officially begun in Djerba.
This project is being implemented by the National Agency for Energy Conservation and the National Waste Management Agency, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, and with support from the governments of Japan and Italy, reflecting the partners' commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions in Tunisia.
The project aims to:
- Renewable electricity production
- Reducing carbon emissions
- Valuation of organic waste
Establishing a model unit that can be generalized at the national level
This initiative falls within the national vision to develop renewable energy and establish an efficient and sustainable biogas system.
