✅ Inauguration Parade of the Pilot Phase of the Energy Transition Program in Public Institutions "TEEP"

✳️ Mr. Wael Shoushan, the Secretary of State for Energy Transition, presided over the inauguration parade of the pilot phase of the Energy Transition Program in public institutions "TEEP" on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Hannibal Institute in Tebourba, in the Manouba governorate. The event was attended by the regional governor, Mr. Mohamed Cheikh Rohou, the Director-General of the National Energy Control Agency, Mr. Fathi Al-Hanchi, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Hedi Hamdawi, and the Director of the German Development Bank's office in Tunisia, Mrs. Beate Richter.

✳️ In his speech on this occasion, Mr. Wael Shoushan commended the results achieved in the pilot phase related to educational institutions within the "Energy Transition for Public Institutions" program. The program aims to encourage the public sector to invest in energy efficiency projects and focus on self-production systems of electricity from photovoltaic solar energy.

✳️ Mr. Wael Shoushan recalled the national strategy for energy transition, aiming to diversify energy sources and promote the use of renewable energies in all sectors, in addition to reducing primary energy consumption by 35% by 2030.

✳️ It should be noted that 54 educational institutions have been equipped with a self-electricity production system from photovoltaic solar energy, with a total capacity of about 1 megawatt, within this pilot phase for educational institutions.

✳️ In the past month of February, 55 solar units were installed in educational institutions in the governorates of Greater Tunis, Beja, Tozeur, and Nabeul, with a production capacity covering the electricity needs of these institutes.

✳️ This project is funded by the German Development Bank, with investments totaling 160 million dinars (49 million euros).
