As part of the implementation of the pilot project on energy management in mosques, the National Agency for Energy Conservation is organizing the second training session for the benefit of officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs on April 21 and 22, 2026, in Tunis.
This activity is part of a national programme aimed at improving energy efficiency in mosques through the adoption of sustainable solutions, including the installation of photovoltaic solar systems for electricity generation, the replacement of conventional lighting systems with high-efficiency LED solutions, and the deployment of smart energy management systems.
The training programme covers several topics, including the fundamentals of energy management, technologies for electricity generation from solar energy, energy consumption management in mosques, as well as maintenance and monitoring mechanisms to ensure the sustainability and efficiency of the installed equipment.
This training aims to strengthen the capacities of officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs in the field of energy management and to prepare them to support the on-site implementation of the project, ensuring the optimal use of installed equipment and achieving the targeted reduction in energy consumption and related costs.
In its current phase, the project covers 151 mosques and large mosques in the governorate of Tozeur and will later be extended to all governorates of the country, as part of establishing an effective national model for energy transition in public spaces.
