As part of efforts to support international cooperation and strengthen partnerships in the field of energy transition, the National Agency for Energy Conservation, upon invitation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), participated within a Tunisian delegation in Intersolar Europe 2026 and The smarter E Europe, held in Munich, Germany, from June 23 to 25, 2026.
This participation comes within the framework of national efforts aimed at achieving Tunisia’s energy transition objectives, particularly increasing the contribution of renewable energy to electricity generation, encouraging private investment, and strengthening energy efficiency, in line with Tunisia’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and commitments to reducing carbon emissions.
The programme included a series of activities and professional meetings, including:
Visiting The smarter E Europe, the largest European event dedicated to renewable energy, energy storage, and electric mobility.
Exploring the latest technologies and innovative solutions in solar energy, electricity storage, smart grids, and energy management.
Organizing bilateral meetings (B2B) with international companies and institutions operating in the energy sector to explore opportunities for cooperation, partnerships, and technology transfer in relation to clean energy.
Participating in a high-level roundtable gathering representatives of Tunisian institutions, investors, and international partners, during which Tunisia’s ongoing reforms and available investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector were presented, with particular focus on solar projects and the role of the private sector in their implementation.
onducting field visits to model projects in Germany to gain insight into leading experiences in renewable electricity generation, including visits to Leutkirch Energy Cooperative and Zimmermann PV-Steel, a company specialized in metallic structures for solar power plants, where the delegation explored examples of floating photovoltaic plants and Agri-PV systems.
This participation represented an important opportunity to strengthen Tunisia’s international presence, showcase investment opportunities in the energy sector, exchange expertise with international stakeholders, and explore new prospects for technical and financial cooperation, thereby supporting the implementation of the national energy transition strategy.
The Tunisian delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, the National Agency for Energy Conservation, as well as stakeholders from the public and private sectors and representatives of research institutions, within a participatory approach aimed at strengthening Tunisia’s attractiveness for renewable energy investments and consolidating its position as a reliable partner in the transition toward clean energy.
