The National Agency for Energy Conservation, within the framework of the Energy Efficiency in Buildings Programme (PEEB COOL) and with the support of German cooperation, launched a training-of-trainers session on “bioclimatic architecture” for architects. The session, which started on Monday, 9 February 2026, will run over a period of five days.
The PEEB COOL programme is implemented under the supervision of the National Agency for Energy Conservation, with co-financing from the Green Climate Fund (FVC), the French Development Agency (AFD), and GIZ.
This training session is fully aligned with the national vision for energy transition and the decarbonization of the building sector. It aims to strengthen the capacities of architects and promote sustainable architectural principles based on energy-efficient design, thereby contributing to reduced energy consumption and improved thermal performance of buildings. The initiative also seeks to establish a national pool of trainers capable of transferring and disseminating this knowledge, ensuring sustainable capacity-building for the sector in the long term.
The session was inaugurated by Mr. Abdelkader Bakkouch, Director of Energy Efficiency in the Building Sector and National Coordinator of the PEEB COOL programme, together with Ms. Marie Anne Serve, representative of German cooperation. They highlighted the importance of this initiative in enhancing architects’ competencies and reinforcing their role in achieving energy efficiency objectives, in response to the environmental and climate challenges facing the building sector.
